PARADISE: A MOMENT OF JOY AND TRIUMPH
Luke 23:43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” NLT
The dying thief did not get to enjoyed his salvation for very long on earth, but what joy must have flooded over his soul. His sins were forgiven! He was going to heaven in a matter of a few minutes! He was now a child of God! There is no greater joy known to man than to know that one’s sins are forgiven. What peace floods the soul. What excitement captivates the soul knowing that there will come a day in which he will see Jesus face-to-face and be with Him forever and ever.
For Jesus, it was a moment of glorious triumph. Jesus had finished what He started and was now going back home to be with our Father. He had fought the fight and won. He had opened the door into heaven for all who would let Him lead them through. Man now had access to God! He had fought Satan on his turf and soundly defeated him once and for all. Satan’s death grip over us was broken. Death has been swallowed up in victory! There was nothing more for Jesus to do. He went back to heaven, and sat down at God’s right hand in glorious triumph. What God had planned before the foundation of the world was laid had now come to pass.
Oh what joy, oh what victory, is ours in Christ Jesus. There is no one or nothing that can take them away from us if we are abiding in Christ. Oh, dear friend, don’t let anyone or anything keep you from the joys of salvation. Stay focused on Jesus and live submissively to Him all the days of your life and you will live eternally with Him in the glorious presence of God free from all that is impure and unholy. “Oh, that will be glory for me….” I hope to see you some day there at Jesus’ feet.
