BUT GOD 2
Ps. 3:3-8
In the first two verses of this Psalm, the Psalmist speaks to us about how things are in the world. In verses 3-6, we are challenged to reflect on how things are in the Lord, and in verses 7-8 we are challenged to ask ourselves how things are with us in our faith walk.
How are things in the Lord? We see in verse 3 that for the child of God, the Lord is our protection and encourager. The Lord is our shield. He has us covered with His protective care all around us. He won’t let any harm come to our souls as long as we stay in His protective care. He encourages us by lifting up our heads. He is our glory, the one who keeps us from sinking beneath life’s circumstances, trials, and tribulations. He won’t let us sink beneath them as long as we stay fixed upon Him.
In verses 4-5, we discover that the Lord is our helper and peace. When we cry out to Him, He hears and comes to our aide. What peace of heart and mind! What joy to know that when we cry out to the Lord, He hears and answers our prayers! We can lie down and rest in His loving arms knowing the Lord is with us and on our side. We are safe as He watches over us.
In verses 6-8, we discover that the Lord is our deliverer and victor. There is nothing to fear when we are living in the Lord. Even if we are left all alone as we fight our battles of life, we are never alone for the Lord is with us.
Are you winning your spiritual battles, or are you struggling to stay out of the cesspool of sin? Victory comes from the Lord. We cannot stand up to Satan and resist him on our own strength. We don’t have the willpower to rise up and overcome what tempts us without the Lord’s help. Stay rooted in Christ. Let His shield of protection surround you. Rest in what He can and is willing to do for you. Cry out to the Lord and let Him deliver you. There is victory in Jesus for all who abide in Him.
