NOT SO WISE
Is. 5:21 Destruction is certain for those who think they are wise and consider themselves to be clever. NLT
There are a lot of people who think they know it all. They may be highly educated and like to flaunt the fact. They may be influential in their community or in their chosen profession. They may be rich and believe their wealth makes them wiser and more special than most. And, there are people who think they are wise who don’t fit into any of the categories above. Regardless, anyone who thinks he is wise and clever needs to know that pride leads to destruction.
Wisdom comes from God alone. True wisdom is the right application of God’s Word to daily living. It is the Spirit of God who makes us wise. He opens our eyes to see and understand God’s truth and directs us how to live it. Wise is he who humbly accepts what God teaches him with thanksgiving and thanks living. Wise is he who is not content with what God has taught him but seeks to learn more. Wise is he who understands that he never gets to the point where he can rest in his knowledge and understanding of Truth. Wise is he who knows who he is in God’s eyes and not his own.
Wisdom is the gift of God’s Son living in the heart. It is living in submission to Him. It is leaning not on one’s own understanding but learning from Him. It is understanding that only in Christ do we find the truth, way to God, and life itself. It is not wasting one’s life away chasing after what only Christ can give. It is not being satisfied with anything in life but life in Christ.
Don’t be a fool; be wise. Live your life in Christ and for Him alone.
