TEAMWORK IN THE KINGDOM

I Cor. 3:8-9 The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose. Yet they will be rewarded individually, according to their own hard work. We work together as partners who belong to God. You are God's field. God's building, not ours.

The key to success is teamwork. Seldom, if ever, can anyone rise to the top without the help of others. There are always those behind the scene who play a pivotal role in one's success. We do our part and work hard to achieve success, but we depend on many others as well in our lives. When a person works hard as part of a team, they are rewarded for their efforts, sometimes as a team and sometimes individually.

The same principle applies in the Kingdom of God. Every believer is on the same team. We all exist for one purpose, to honor and glorify Christ on earth. Albeit, many lose sight of our common purpose and strike out on their own, only to fall flat on their faces. When we maintain our common purpose as a part of the body of Christ, good things happen for the cause of Christ.

When we see ourselves as part of a team, partners with one another for the cause of Christ, the body functions well and Christ is lifted up before man. Many souls come into the Kingdom as well. It is when we cease to be a team that the church stalls. Because we have lost our sense of being partners in the Gospel with one another, we have lost much of our effectiveness in the world and our witness to the world has been tainted.

We must always remember that the church is Christ's and Christ's alone. No one can claim to be head of the church. No church can claim to the Kingdom of God. There are no labels or super heroes in the Kingdom. We are all a part of the same team, serving with the same purpose, to be a people after God's own heart seeking to bring honor and glory to Christ. Anything less than that is contrary to God's will and our purpose for existence.
