Eccl. 7:20 There is not a single person in all the earth who is always good and never sins.

Eccl. 7:20  There is not a single person in all the earth who is always good and never sins.

This is a statement that is true for all people for all time.  There is not one person who has ever lived, is now living, or shall ever live, who is so good he never sins.  This includes you and me.  No matter what others may think about you or what you may think about you, you are not as good as you may appear to be.  Everyone sins and that is just a fact of life.  It doesn’t matter who you may be in the eyes of the world or church, you are guilty of sin.  If you say you aren’t, you are calling God a liar because He says you are.

Because we are guilty of sin, we need help from God if we are going to avoid the consequences of our sin, which is hell.  God knew our plight and did what only He could do; He became human and lived a sinless life.  He then took upon himself all of our sin penalty on the cross of Calvary when He died in our place.  He who knew no sin became sin for us so we could have our sins forgiven by God.  Not only did Jesus make it possible for God to forgive us, He made the way for God to forget we had ever sinned!  When Jesus is our Savior, God does not look beyond the righteousness of Christ in us.  It is as if we had never sinned!

Yes, we still sin because we are in the flesh and in the world.  We are perfected in Christ be we are not perfect.  Our sinful nature still haunts and harasses us.  We are weak spiritually and will fail to measure up to God’s holy perfection.  But the Good News is that when we admit our sin and confess them to Christ, we are forgiven and our hearts are made whiter than snow before God.

In order to not live in sin and end up in hell, we need to stay closely connected with Christ.  We must be washed clean by His righteousness.  We must stay under His righteousness and not wander away from Him.  He will protect us and keep us pure before God as long as we let Him be our Savior and Lord.  No one will ever be good enough to be with God without Him.  No one.
