PRAYING IN GOD'S WILL

I John 5:14-15 And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for.

We ask many things from the Lord. Much of what we ask for we don’t get because we ask for things that are not in line with His will. When we ask for things that are in line with His will, the Lord grants what we ask for. So the issue becomes making sure that what we pray for is in line with His will.

Praying in the will of God means that we pray for those things which are consistent with His character and His will for man. God desires that all men be saved and then grow into holiness. So, anything that helps to make it happens will be granted to us. Think about what you pray for. Do you ask for anything that is not consistent with God’s holy nature and love? Do you ask for things that are not consistent with God’s desire to save souls and make them holy?

God wants you to grow in his grace and in your knowledge of Him. Do you do ask for things that do not serve to make it happen in you? If God were to grant you what you pray for, then how would it work in your life to aide you in the process of being made holy?

The Lord delights in answering prayers that are in line with His will. Every prayer of His children is an answered prayer. He knows best how to line up our prayers in accordance to His will for us. Sometimes His response is to give us what we ask for, sometimes He delays his responses, and sometimes He refuses to give us what we ask for.

Each prayer offered up to the Lord should be clothed in thanksgiving for we know our loving Heavenly Father always is at work for our good and His glory and our prayers are answered accordingly. We give thanks as well for we know that the Lord’s response is always on time. We don’t always understand His timing, but we trust Him and know that our Father always knows best when to grant us our requests. We do not give up praying for we know that persistence in prayer always is rewarded for those who pray in God’s will.
