Matt. 12:30
“Anyone who isn’t helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working
with me is actually working against me.”
Is what you are doing with your life helping or
hindering the cause of Christ? In light
of Jesus’ statement, we are doing one or the other. This should cause us to stop and look at what
we do with our time and lives. While we
can get carried away with our self-examination, I do believe we need to be
aware of what we are doing in light of Christ’s role in our lives.
Our life purpose should be always to advance the
Kingdom of God while we are here on earth.
There is no greater purpose for life than this. We do various things with our lives, but we
should share a common purpose. Life
isn’t about what we may be able to accumulate or accomplish in the world; life
is what we can do to work with Christ to reach the world for Him.
Jesus went so far as to say that if we aren’t
working with Him, we are working against Him.
It is easy to see how that is true for the believer and unbeliever, but
we don’t see it as easily when we look at the life of the believer. It’s not unusual to do very little with our
faith to advance the Kingdom of God. We
want faith and all its benefits, but we don’t want the work that goes with
it. If we aren’t working with Him, we
are working against Him. Strong words to
ponder today.
If you aren’t working out your salvation in the
world you are actually opposing Christ.
