TIME TO REPENT

TIME TO REPENT

II Peter 3:8-9 But you must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.  NLT

God is not confined by time or space.  We measure our existence by time, but God is eternal and time is meaningless when we think about Him.  It is impossible for us to comprehend timeless existence now, but someday we will.  We must always remember that the Lord is always true to His Word and everything He says will come to pass.  We simply have to not waver in our confidence in what He says.  We believe it because He said it and that is the end of the story.

The Lord has not come back for His Church yet, but He will.  He is busy working in the world to redeem all who will be saved.  God has a deep passion for the soul of man and He is not willing to let anyone go to hell without their having an opportunity to be saved.  He knows there will be many, many souls who will reject Him and not be saved, but there are also many who will still come to Him.  He will come again when He knows that His redeeming work on earth is done.

Since the Lord is still waiting to come back for us, it ought to inspire us to be actively telling all who we can that there is still time to repent.  We don’t know who is ready to be saved.  We are obligated to reach out to as many people as we can while we can that some might be saved.  It is not for us to determine who can or cannot be saved, or even who is saved.  Our responsibility is to take Christ and His Word into the world.  We are to be messengers for Him and leave the rest up to Him.

Each day that the Lord tarries draws us closer to His return.  Let us be faithful to Him and faithful in our witness for Him that all who would be saved will be saved and not perish.
