PRAY FOR ME

PRAY FOR ME

Rom. 15:30 Dear friends, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Do this because of your love for me given you by the Holy Spirit. NLT

This petition should be on the heart of every believer serving the Lord. It is not an easy thing to live for Christ in a sin-infested world. It is not easy to stand out in the crowd and take a stand for Christ. It is not easy, nor is it a popular thing to do, to confront people with their sins. It is not easy to be visible and an easy target for Satan to shoot at.

Everyone who is willing to be a servant-leader in the church needs the prayers of the church. Every pastor, teacher, elder, deacon, worship leader, and counselor needs to be consistently bathed in prayer. The struggles they go through in ministry are very real and great. If they are going to be able to faithfully serve the Lord in an honorable way, we, the church, must pray for them.

Church leaders are often the target of much criticism. It is common for those who are not serving as they do to point out their flaws and mistakes. If as much time spent on talking about them was spent talking to the Lord about them, it would revolutionize the Church. Church leaders who are prayed for are far more likely to be led by the Spirit. They are far more likely to hear the voice of God teaching them and are far more likely to live holy lives.

You cannot truly love the Lord and not care enough about those serving Him to pray for them. If you are not praying for your church leaders, ask the Lord to lay them on your heart. They are in very vulnerable positions and are prone to buckle under Satan’s attacks just like you are. They cannot stand strong without prayerful support. No matter what you may think about them, pray for them. Pray the models Paul set out for us in Philippians and Colossians over your church leaders consistently and see what the Lord will do in His Church.
