BE STRONG AND STEADY
I Cor. 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and
steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing
you do for the Lord is ever useless. NLT
Be strong and
steady. How do we do that? So many of us are weak and unsteady in our
walk with the Lord rather than strong and steady. We are only as strong and steady as we are in
the Word and prayer. There are no
shortcuts to victorious Christian living.
We must consistently feed our souls.
We must spend much time with the Lord who gives us strength for the
journey.
Enthusiasm for the
Lord’s work is directly tied to our commitment to Him. Much serving is done more out of duty than
desire. Many lose their enthusiasm along
the way. These things happen when we try
to serve on our own strength. When we
rob ourselves of our time with the Lord we lose our desire not only for Him,
but our desire to serve Him.
Satan wants to take
the joy out of our serving. He wants to
convince us that what we do is a waste of time or that we are inadequate for
the task. He wants us to quit trying and
will do anything he can to accomplish his goal.
What we need to always know is that whatever we do for the Lord is not
useless, a waste of our time. The Lord
honors those who honor Him and will use what we do for His glory.
Your contribution to
the building up of the Kingdom of God is very important. Do it with enthusiasm and joy. Do it because you love the Lord and know that
He blesses the work of those who seek to please Him. In fact, the key to victorious living in
Christ is to love Him foremost in your life.
If you serve Him without love, you serve Him in vain. And, you will probably be very unsteady in
your walk with Him.
The key to loving the
Lord above everything else is spending much time in fellowship with Him:
reading your Bible, praying, and worshiping Him.
