SIN ONLY GETS WORSE

Rom. 1:28-32 When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, geed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning, and are disobedient to their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving. They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them too.  NLT

Two observations that I want us to see today: one is that when we refuse to acknowledge God we invent new ways of sinning, and the other is that people living this way do so even though they are fully aware of the fact that God's death penalty is on those who do.

The nature of sin is that it is never satisfied. In order to quench the thirst of sin, people have to continue to try and create new ways of doing it. It is a futile, hopeless, and deadly way to live, but it is inescapable for those who choose to live in sin.

The nature of sin is that it is blind to the truth. A sinner may deny the truth, ignore it, and dismiss it, but he can't escape it. God makes it clear to all that sin has its consequences. No one can escape God's message that there is eternal death for those who choose to live in sin. No one has an excuse. Everyone will be held accountable for the choices he makes.
