LESS ARGUING, MORE TRAINING

I Tim. 4:7 Do not waste your time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness.

Spending time arguing over things seldom accomplish anything good. Rarely does it result in mutual understanding and agreement. Usually it creates ill feelings and a critical spirit. Arguing sets people at odds with each other and destroys the quest for peace.

Instead of arguing, we need to spend our time and energy in training for spiritual fitness. What this means for us is that we focus our time and energy on growing our faith. We spend time studying God's Word to learn how to live godly lives. We seek to understand what we should and shouldn't be doing in our walk of faith. We study to learn more about God and His trustworthiness. No one will grow in faith without a consistent time alone with God in His Word.

Spiritual training involves developing a strong prayer life. We must learn how to stay in touch with God at all times, how to keep God involved in our daily routines. We need to learn how to stay God conscious as we go about our daily business. Spiritual training involves putting into practice what we learn and sharing it with others. We will not retain much knowledge if we don't put it to the test and live it.

Be smart and use your time wisely and constructively. Don't get into wasteful arguments. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Only those who are spiritual fit are able to handle whatever comes their way. Only the spiritually fit are assured of their going to heaven when they die.
