Job 18:5-7 The truth remains that the light of the wicked will be snuffed out. The sparks of their fire will not glow. The light in them will grow dark. The lamp hanging above them will be quenched. The confident stride of the wicked will be short-lived. Their own schemes will be their downfall.
No matter how brightly the wicked may shine in this world, their light will be snuffed out. Their glory is short-lived. People come and go and when their legacy is built around themselves they quickly fade away.
No matter how effective or influential they may be, their wickedness will be their downfall. Whatever good they may seem to do on earth will not matter in heaven. The darkness of their hearts will rob them of any joy in their living. Even if they are remembered on earth, they will be forgotten in heaven.
We need to never forget this sobering truth. If you are counting on what you are doing with your life on earth for your joy and eternal security, you need to wake up now while you can. The Lord only knows those who are righteous in heart. He only remembers those who live by faith in Him. He rejects all whose glory is found on earth and not in heaven.
It doesn’t matter who you are, what others think of you, what you may accomplish in your life, or what you think of yourself. All that matters is whether or not Jesus is your Savior and Lord. And, Jesus cannot be your Savior and you live for the glory this world offers you. As a child of God, we must lose our self and live for Jesus’ glory and honor. It can be no other way if we are right with God.
You can lay up for yourself all kinds of treasures on earth, but if you do not know Jesus as your Savior, you will lose your soul to hell.
