Ruth 1:7 With her two
daughters-in-law she set out from the place where she had been living, and they
took the road that would lead them back to Judah.
Naomi was a woman from Israel who had settled in Moab with her
husband when a famine had struck Israel.
While there they had two sons who met and married their wives there. After a few years, both her husband and her
two sons had died. Naomi heard through
the grapevine that things were much better back in Israel. She was heavy-hearted at the loss of her
family and decided that maybe going back to Judah would help her to heal.
There are times in life in which we become so heavy-hearted by
circumstances that we just don’t know what to do. We hurt.
We can’t think clearly. We don’t
find comfort in those we love. When it
happens, we have two choices: we can give up, wallow in our self-pity, and
waste away our lives, or we can do like Naomi did and try to do something about
it.
There is always something we can do to try and get better or make
life better for us. As long as there is life
there is hope. Naomi didn’t know what
was going to happen next in her life, but she knew that she had to do
something. Life as it was simply wasn’t
going to work. She made up her mind to
put the life she was living behind her and move on.
The way out of bad circumstances is to do something, to move
forward. Set your eyes on the Lord and
do something. Return to the Lord and trust
Him wherever He may take you. Only the
Lord knows what is ahead of you. Only
the Lord can take the burden off of your heart.
There is hope because the Lord is already in your tomorrows waiting for
you. Never give up. Never stay in your misery and let life pass
you by. Blessings await you as you put
your trust in the Lord. He loves
you. Won’t you let Him love you back to
a healthy soul?
